The Banreservas Cultural Center has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the preservation of Dominican musical identity. Through strategic initiatives, the institution seeks to rescue the legacy of iconic figures who have been pillars in the country’s cultural development, bringing their works back to the stage for the enjoyment of new generations.

During the concert titled “A Ritmo de Son”, held in conjunction with the Raíces, Arte y Cultura Foundation, an emotional tribute was paid to maestros César Namnúm and Kundengo Minier. Mijaíl Peralta, manager of the Culture Division of Banco de Reservas, highlighted the relevance of this event for the national historical memory.

What we are doing is trying to rescue, remember, and bring back to the stage the work of these two great men.

Son, pillar of Caribbean identity

For the Banreservas Cultural Center, son represents much more than a musical genre; it is one of the deepest expressions of Caribbean identity that maintains a special bond with the Dominican people. According to Peralta, this genre is currently going through an excellent moment of vitality and connection with the public.

The center’s work is not limited to a single event, but is part of a comprehensive vision to:

  • Recover the country’s musical memory.
  • Bring contemporary audiences closer to the artists who defined our cultural history.
  • Revalue the compositions and contributions of legendary figures on current stages.

Although the tribute to Namnúm and Minier was consolidated in a special day, the executive announced that the institution will continue working on future projects. The goal is to continue promoting spaces dedicated to recognizing and keeping alive the legacy of the exponents who have forged the artistic heritage of the Dominican Republic.
