  • 1791: A slave uprising was organized in the French part of the island, setting a precedent for social struggle.
  • 1944: Law 675 was enacted, a fundamental piece for urban and construction regulation in the country.
  • 1978: Dr. José Francisco Peña Gómez was unanimously elected as Secretary General of the Socialist International for Latin America.
