Toros del Este bolster their roster for the 2026-27 LIDOM season

The Toros del Este front office has begun moving its strategic pieces with the goal of presenting a highly competitive team for the upcoming 2026-27 season of the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM). With an eye on the start of the championship on October 16th, the La Romana franchise has confirmed a series of key signings that include both veteran talent and impactful international arms.

Zoilo Almonte: power for the orange lineup

The experienced switch-hitter Zoilo Almonte joins the Toros’ ranks after signing as a free agent. Almonte, who possesses a consolidated track record in winter ball, arrives after a brilliant performance in the Mexican Baseball League with the Tecolotes de Dos Laredos, where he stood out with 23 home runs and 74 runs batted in.

  • Lifetime average in LIDOM: .276.
  • Historical records: 21 home runs and 129 runs batted in.
  • Privileged position: sixth in RBIs and home runs, and second in doubles in the league since the 2013-14 campaign.

Joe Corbett and Noah Skirrow lead the pitching staff

Reliever Joe Corbett will wear the orange uniform for the third consecutive year, solidifying his place as an immovable piece in the bullpen. His dominance on the mound has been remarkable, maintaining a 1.50 ERA and a 0.96 WHIP throughout his time in the league.

Corbett needs no introduction; he is a player we already consider a native of the organization, a guarantee for preserving victories in the ninth inning.

On the other hand, the starting rotation will receive a significant boost with the arrival of right-hander Noah Skirrow. The 28-year-old pitcher, who shined in Mexico with the Toros de Tijuana, is shaping up to be an elite arm capable of making a difference from the very first day of competition.

More depth for the Romanense squad

The Bulls’ strategy does not stop there. The team also announced the addition of Dominican pitchers Luis Rodríguez, who has experience in Japanese baseball, and Ronaldo Alesandro, a talent from Higüey who comes from standing out in Mexican baseball with the Sultanes de Monterrey.

These moves are in addition to the previous acquisitions of figures such as Phillips Valdez, Julián Fernández, Dawel Lugo, Pedro Severino, and Julio E. Rodríguez, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to building a deep and versatile roster to pursue the winter ball championship.
