LaLiga pays tribute to the victims of the earthquake in Colombia during the opening matchday

Spanish football unites in a gesture of solidarity in the face of the tragedy that the Colombian people are going through. LaLiga, together with the clubs that make up the First and Second divisions, has confirmed that a minute of silence will be observed in all matches corresponding to the first matchday of both categories.

This initiative seeks to honor the memory of those who passed away due to the recent earthquake and to express a message of unconditional support to all the people affected by this natural disaster.

The start of the 2026/27 season

Despite the mourning that surrounds the international community, the football calendar continues its course. The sporting activity will take place as follows:

  • LaLiga Hypermotion: The second-tier tournament will kick off this Friday with the match between Real Sociedad B and Castellón.
  • LaLiga EA Sports: The top division will begin this Saturday with two featured matches: Deportivo Alavés against Getafe and Sevilla versus Rayo Vallecano.

This solemn gesture will serve to remember the victims of the earthquake that occurred last Monday, which reached a magnitude of 7.4 and has left a preliminary toll of nearly 240 people dead, according to official reports from regional authorities.
