Fernando Tatis Jr. makes history and climbs the Padres’ home run list
Fernando Tatis Jr. continues to cement his legacy in Major League Baseball with the San Diego Padres. The star Dominican outfielder reached a significant milestone this Tuesday by hitting his 164th home run with the organization, positioning himself alone as the second all-time home run leader in the history of the Californian franchise.
The hit, a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning, was key in the Padres’ resounding 11-2 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers at Petco Park. With this mark, Tatis surpassed the record of 163 home runs set by Nate Colbert, a record that stood for 55 years.
Dominican dominance in San Diego
Now, the only player separating Tatis from the historical top is his compatriot Manny Machado, who leads the list with 217 home runs. The coincidence is remarkable, as both players began their journey with the Padres on the same day, in March 2019. Seven years later, both have become the team’s undisputed offensive leaders.
