Political leader and communicator Andrés Matos “Licho” passes away
The political and communicational sphere of the Dominican Republic is in mourning following the passing of Andrés Matos, popularly known as “Licho,” who lost his life early this Wednesday. The leader of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) and member of its Political Commission had been facing health complications that kept him away from public life during the last few years.
Matos, who was a native of the municipality of San José de Ocoa and resided in the capital’s Capotillo sector, was a prominent figure in national politics. His career as a legislator was consolidated in previous years under the banner of the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD), before joining the ranks of the PRM.

In recent public administration, Matos held key roles in the Ministry of Public Works, where he served as Director of Communications under the management of Deligne Ascención.
