Strengthening health in Samaná: Renovated Las Galeras Clinical and Diagnostic Center delivered
In a continuous effort to optimize the healthcare infrastructure in the country, the National Health Service (SNS) inaugurated the renovated facilities of the Las Galeras Clinical and Diagnostic Center, located in the province of Samaná. This project seeks to improve the quality of life for local residents, providing them with a modern and functional environment for their medical care.
The total investment for this project amounted to RD$5,511,246.51. Of this figure, RD$4,861,246.51 was allocated directly to structural renovation work, while RD$650,000.00 was used for the acquisition of new furniture, ensuring that the center has optimal conditions for patients and medical staff.
Cutting-edge technology at the service of the community
One of the pillars of this delivery is the technical equipment, valued at RD$4,300,798.33. Thanks to this investment, the center now has essential tools such as a portable X-ray machine, a three-transducer ultrasound with a thermal printer, binocular microscopes, benchtop centrifuges, and autoclaves, among other key devices for clinical diagnosis.
Bringing diagnostic services closer to communities is also a commitment to humanizing care, reducing expenses, time, and that out-of-pocket cost that each of you had to incur to travel to Samaná to get an X-ray or any other study.

Comprehensive renovation details
The project involved a deep intervention that ranged from the roof to the electrical and plumbing installations. Among the highlighted improvements are:
- Installation of LED lighting, new wiring, and outdoor lamps.
- Complete renovation of toilets, washbasins, and stainless steel sinks.
- Installation of high-resistance porcelain and ceramic flooring.
- Climate control using split inverter air conditioning units.
- Improvements to perimeter security with front fencing and main gate.
Expansion of services in the province
During the event, the head of the SNS announced that the expansion of health services in Samaná will continue with the construction of a new Clinical and Diagnostic Center in the community of Rincón. This project, which will soon enter the bidding process, adds to the strategy of strengthening the Public Network, which has already invested more than RD$96 million in the equipment of six health centers throughout the province.
