Juan Soto and Luis Robert Jr. Worry the Mets
NEW YORK – The New York Mets are facing new challenges amid a complicated start to the season. The team has confirmed that Juan Soto will be limited to designated hitter duties due to stiffness in his forearm.
Soto, who experienced discomfort during defensive exercises last Friday, underwent an MRI that revealed no structural damage. The outfielder, with a batting average of .304 and an OPS of .831, has been playing with discomfort, but hopes to return to his defensive duties soon.
The situation is less optimistic for Luis Robert Jr., who was excluded from the lineup against the Washington Nationals due to stiffness in his lower back. The outfielder is being evaluated day-to-day as he seeks to recover. So far this season, he is batting .224 with two home runs and three doubles in 24 games.
Adding to these concerns is the absence of Kodai Senga, who was placed on the injured list due to lumbar spine inflammation. In response, the team promoted right-handed pitcher Christian Scott from Triple-A.
Injuries continue to affect the Mets, who are also without Francisco Lindor, who is out with a left calf strain. The team had a 3-12 record during Soto’s recent absence, demonstrating his importance in the offense.
With a 9-19 record, the New York team faces increasing pressure, although manager Carlos Mendoza assured that he maintains regular conversations with management and remains focused on improving the team’s performance.
