Santiago bids farewell to legendary art chronicler Claudio Concepción
The journalistic guild and the society of Santiago are in mourning following the passing of Claudio Concepción, a historic figure in Dominican communication and a pioneer in arts and entertainment reporting. His remains are being waked at the Savica funeral home, a place where various personalities from the artistic, political, and media spheres have gathered to express their condolences to the communicator’s family.
Concepción had been facing various health issues for some time. Recently, the journalist had been hospitalized in the United States and, after returning to the Dominican Republic, experienced new complications that ultimately led to his passing.
A legacy of more than five decades
Claudio Concepción’s career spanned more than 50 years, becoming an essential reference for the generations that saw art journalism as a pillar of Dominican entertainment. His work was constant in radio, print media, and television, being especially remembered for his outstanding participation in the program “A Todo Color,” alongside Cipriano Martínez, a space that defined an era in Teleuniverso’s programming.
With his passing, Santiago loses one of the chroniclers who best knew how to narrate the evolution of the country’s cultural and artistic life, leaving an indelible mark on the national journalistic practice.
In addition to his work in the media, Concepción stood out in the institutional sphere, serving as communications manager for the Tobacco Institute of the Dominican Republic (INTABACO), where he applied his vast knowledge in the management of public relations and information dissemination.

- Location: San José de las Montañas Church, Hermanas Mirabal Avenue, Baracoa sector, Santiago.
