The couple’s financial commitment is of great magnitude: they have allocated 99% of their Facebook shares, initially valued at 45 billion dollars, to fund this mission throughout their lives. The foundation’s work has had a tangible impact on various communities. Recently, the couple made a $1.48 million donation to the Wilcox Medical Center in Līhuʻe, allowing for the acquisition of advanced diagnostic technology, including a mobile MRI unit and 3D mammography equipment.
Likewise, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative has injected more than 10 million dollars in grants to support families and students in East Palo Alto and Belle Haven. These funds have focused on:
- Strengthening The Primary School (TPS) integrated care model.
- Support for early childhood and family well-being.
- Creation of educational savings accounts, with an investment of 3.6 million dollars to benefit 550 students, facilitating access to future education with tax benefits.
