Man sentenced to 10 years in prison for child sexual abuse in San Cristóbal
The Collegiate Court of San Cristóbal handed down a 10-year prison sentence against José Miguel Dipré, also identified as José Manuel Dipré, after finding him responsible for committing acts of sexual and psychological abuse against a six-year-old minor. The judicial decision concludes a legal process initiated following the events recorded during the year 2024.
Case details
According to the file presented by Alofoke Deportes, the incidents took place at the victim’s residence. The aggressor took advantage of the minor’s mother’s absences to perpetrate the abuse. The situation was discovered on April 4, 2024, which led to a formal complaint filed by the girl’s relatives with the Unit for Attention to Victims of Gender Violence, Intrafamily Violence, and Sexual Crimes of San Cristóbal on April 12 of the same year.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office presented compelling evidence that demonstrated the criminal liability of the accused, succeeding in having the court validate the charges of sexual and psychological abuse, despite having requested a longer sentence during the trial.
Judicial process and capture
The investigation, led by prosecutor Rosa Elvira Moreta Bufill, allowed for the collection of the necessary evidentiary elements to support the accusation. Subsequently, prosecutor Daryl Montes de Oca presented the legal arguments that confirmed the violation of various provisions of the Dominican Penal Code and Law 136-03, which protects the fundamental rights of children and adolescents.
Dipré’s capture took place on May 15, 2024, following a judicial order issued by the authorities. The subject was arrested by National Police officers while he was on Carreterita de Doña Ana street, in the province of San Cristóbal.
Final judgment
The court, presided over by Judge Biulkys Milanés Balbuena and composed of judges Henry Alexis Sánchez De La Cruz and Ana Inés Susana Quezada, ordered that the convicted person serve the imposed sentence at the Najayo Men’s Correction and Rehabilitation Center (CCR-XVII), located in the same jurisdiction.
