Jean Luis Rodríguez assumes leadership of the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings
In a formal ceremony led by the Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, Jean Luis Rodríguez was officially sworn in as the new head of the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (MIVHED). This appointment was formalized following the issuance of Decree no. 554-26 by President Luis Abinader.
During the ceremony, Vice President Peña highlighted the strategic importance that the MIVHED holds for the execution of housing policies and the promotion of public infrastructure throughout the national territory, wishing him success in his new administration.
Commitment to public management
Upon assuming his new duties, Rodríguez expressed his gratitude to the president for the trust placed in him. The new minister stressed that his arrival at the institution has as its main objective to provide continuity to the achievements obtained and to contribute his technical vision to optimize the ministry’s constructive and social processes.
We come from a previous experience where we were able to deliver good results to the country and that is the commitment. We will work morning, noon, and night to strengthen the work of the ministry and promote new initiatives.

Professional background and profile
Jean Luis Rodríguez arrives at MIVHED with a solid track record in the public sector. Between 2020 and 2026, he successfully led the Dominican Port Authority (APORDOM), a period during which he focused on the modernization and development of the country’s port infrastructure.
- Academic background in Business Administration, Political Science, and Economics.
- Master’s degree in International Business and Economic Relations.
- Previous experience in critical infrastructure management during his time at APORDOM.
With this cabinet change, the Government seeks to strengthen efficiency in the housing sector, relying on the technical profile and management capacity that Rodríguez demonstrated in his previous years of public service.
