Tragedy in Cotuí: Elderly man murdered during a robbery at his business
A regrettable event has shocked the Sánchez Ramírez province. Jesús María Vargas, a 75-year-old man, lost his life last Wednesday night after being the victim of a shooting attack perpetrated by unknown individuals in the Vista del Valle sector, located in the municipality of Cotuí.
According to preliminary reports, the attack occurred while the victim was attending to his grocery store. Everything points to the incident originating during an attempted robbery. The deceased, who received multiple gunshot wounds, died instantly at the scene.
Authorities deepen investigations
After receiving the alert, agents of the National Police and representatives of the Public Ministry arrived at the scene to carry out the removal of the body and collect the necessary evidence. Among the evidentiary material are the surveillance camera recordings from the area, which captured the exact moment of the assault and are being analyzed by investigators.
The authorities are working intensely on the identification and location of those responsible for the crime, in order to clarify the exact circumstances under which this regrettable episode occurred, which has brought mourning to the community of Cotuí.
