UASD graduates 1,058 new specialists in an emotional postgraduate ceremony
The Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) reaffirmed its commitment to academic excellence by delivering 1,058 new postgraduate professionals to the country. The ceremony, held in the Aula Magna, was part of the commemorative activities for the 163rd anniversary of the Restoration of the Republic, standing out for a deep spirit of international solidarity.
This investiture marked an important milestone as it was the first led by the rector, Dr. Jorge Asjana David, following his recent swearing-in. During his speech, the highest authority of the state academy highlighted the university’s mission as an engine of social mobility and the democratization of scientific knowledge.
The same Republic that 163 years ago was restored by men and women aware that freedom required sacrifice, courage, and confidence in the future, places its trust in you today. It does not ask you to take up weapons of war. It asks you to take up the tools of sustainable development and peace.
Dr. Jorge Asjana David, Rector of the UASD
Solidarity with sister nations
The event also served as a stage to express the university community’s sorrow regarding the recent natural tragedies that occurred in Colombia and Venezuela.
