The countdown begins for the XIII National Women’s Superior Basketball Tournament

The Dominican Federation of Clubs (Fedoclubes) has launched the organization of the XIII National Women’s Superior Basketball Tournament, a special edition under the motto “No Gender Violence.” The event, which promises to raise the level of women’s sports in the country, is scheduled to begin next Thursday, September 24.

On this occasion, the competition will feature the participation of 11 high-level teams, who will compete for the coveted Seaboard “Clean Energy” Cup. The teams have been divided into two groups for the initial phase of the tournament.

Distribution of participating teams

The competition structure features teams of great tradition and emerging talent distributed as follows:

  • Group A: Águilas de Guachupita (current champions), Laguneras de San Cristóbal, Turistas del Este, Pioneras de Maimón, and Leñeras de Los Mina.
  • Group B: Cinco Esquinas of the San Carlos club, Élites de Yamasá, Pueblo Nuevo de Villa Duarte, Cañeras de La Romana, Caribes de Santo Domingo Norte, and the Dinámicas de Los Alcarrizos.

Roberto Ramírez, president of Fedoclubes, offered the details during a technical meeting held at the San Carlos club. In this meeting, the delegates of the different franchises coordinated the key points to ensure the success of the sporting event.

This tournament not only represents a showcase for female talent in national basketball, but also reaffirms our commitment to the eradication of gender-based violence through sports.

The geographical representation of the tournament is remarkable, spanning seven provinces, including San Cristóbal, El Seibo, Monseñor Nouel, Monte Plata, La Romana, in addition to a strong presence from the Metropolitan Zone, integrating both the National District and the Province of Santo Domingo.
