Government delivers more than 36 thousand technological scholarships to boost young talent
President Luis Abinader led a momentous event at the National Palace, where the delivery of more than 36,000 technological scholarships was formalized through the Technological Institute of the Americas (ITLA). This initiative represents a strategic commitment by the Dominican State to enhance the capabilities of the youth and strengthen the nation’s comprehensive development.
During the ceremony, the Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, highlighted the government’s commitment to specialized education. According to the official, the goal is to prepare both the population and industries for the challenges of the digital age, reaffirming confidence in the capabilities of Dominican youth.

A milestone in technological education
The rector of ITLA, Jimmy Rosario Bernard, detailed that the call reached a record figure of 40,654 applications. Of this total, 36,225 continuing education scholarships were awarded, managing to serve 89% of the applicants, which constitutes an unprecedented event for the academic institution.
Strategic training areas
The awarded programs are designed to respond to the current high labor demand and foster the country’s digital transformation. Among the areas of study are:
- Artificial intelligence and data science.
- Cybersecurity and information networks.
- Software development and digital marketing.
- Graphic design and languages.
Inclusion and STEM focus
The program places special emphasis on STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and Industry 4.0. A highlight of this edition is the gender focus: 51.3% of the scholarships were awarded to women, promoting their active participation in technological sectors of high strategic value for the national economy.
The event was attended by prominent figures in the sector, such as the president of INDOTEL, Guido Gómez Mazara, and the general director of INFOTEP, Rafael Santos Badía, who support this vision of educational progress.
