LeBron James begins his 24th season with the Philadelphia 76ers against the Knicks
NBA star LeBron James is ready to take on a new challenge in his historic professional career. The legendary player will begin his twenty-fourth season in the league on October 20th, in an iconic setting: Madison Square Garden, where he will face off against the reigning champions, the New York Knicks.
This meeting will be extremely special, as it will mark James’s official debut wearing the Philadelphia 76ers uniform. The franchise has put together a high-level team, adding Jaylen Brown to an already established core that features Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, establishing themselves as one of the top title contenders.
An opening day full of intensity
The NBA opening schedule promises strong emotions for basketball fans. In addition to LeBron’s debut, the league has scheduled high-caliber matchups for the start date:
- San Antonio Spurs will face the Oklahoma City Thunder, reliving the Western Conference Finals in a duel where the Spurs will look to settle the score after their previous results.
- Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics, two of the most solid organizations in the Eastern Conference during the 2025-26 campaign, will measure their strength in another of the most anticipated clashes of the tournament’s start.
The return to Los Angeles
Beyond the start of the season, the schedule has set a date marked in red for fans: Christmas Day. On this special date, LeBron James will star in an emotional return to Los Angeles, the city where he left an indelible mark after playing for eight years and achieving championship glory in 2020.
LeBron’s debut with the 76ers against the defending champions at Madison Square Garden is, without a doubt, the event that will set the pulse for the new NBA season.
