Banreservas Cultural Center exalts the legacy of Dominican son with an emotional tribute
In an evening filled with tradition and rhythm, the Banreservas Cultural Center celebrated the essence of Caribbean music through the “A Ritmo de Son” concert. The event served as a stage to pay a well-deserved tribute to two fundamental pillars of Dominican son: Kundengo Minier and César Namnún, figures whose trajectory has been decisive in the preservation of our sonic identity.
The activity brought together various exponents and enthusiasts of popular culture, who enjoyed a repertoire that covered the most emblematic compositions that have marked generations of Dominicans. The music acted as a common thread to highlight the commitment of these masters to the dissemination of native rhythms.
Recognition for a life dedicated to music
During the ceremony, Kundengo Minier was honored with a plaque of recognition for his more than five decades of uninterrupted work. As a prominent member of the iconic Minier family, his work has been vital in keeping the deepest musical expressions of the Dominican Republic alive.
For his part, César Namnún was celebrated for his multifaceted career as a composer, musician, and, above all, as a tireless researcher and cultural promoter. His work has been essential in documenting and projecting the richness of son and other traditional genres both nationally and internationally.
The “A Ritmo de Son” concert established itself as a necessary encounter with our roots, reaffirming the importance of protecting the musical heritage that defines us as a nation.
