Blow to micro-trafficking: DNCD seizes more than 6,000 grams of drugs in Duarte province
In a coordinated offensive against micro-trafficking, the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) and the Public Ministry carried out a series of strategic operations in the municipalities of San Francisco de Macorís and Pimentel, Duarte province. These actions resulted in the arrest of 21 people and the seizure of more than 6,000 grams of alleged controlled substances.
The operational deployment included the execution of 89 field interventions and three home raids, specifically designed to dismantle narcotics sales points operating in various sectors of the region.
Seizure details
During the inspections, the authorities managed to remove a significant amount of prohibited substances from the streets, among which the following stand out:
- Cocaine: 612 portions with a total weight of 5,635 grams.
- Marijuana: 130 wrappers totaling 421 grams.
- Crack: six doses with a weight of 28.2 grams.
In addition to the narcotics, anti-narcotics agents confiscated various items used for drug trafficking logistics, including three scales, four communication radios with their respective chargers, four mobile phones, a motorcycle, several bladed weapons, and the sum of RD$11,035 in cash.
Intervened areas
The authorities’ actions covered a wide geographical area to ensure the impact of the operations. In San Francisco de Macorís, the police presence extended through key sectors such as San Martín de Porres, San Pedro, Santa Ana, La Ceniza, Maymoro, Riveras del Jaya, Hermanas Mirabal, Pueblo Nuevo, Los Chiripos, El Capacito, La Javiela, Ercilia Pepín, Los Rieles, Las Colonias, San Vicente de Paúl, La Altagracia, and Cristo Rey.
For its part, in the municipality of Pimentel, the operations were focused on the communities of Casa de Alto, Matuan, Los Llanos, Yaiba, El Play, Cantan Los Macos, and Cuaba Abajo.
The DNCD reaffirmed its commitment to continue strengthening intelligence work and preventive operations throughout 2026, with the goal of dismantling criminal networks and ensuring tranquility and peaceful coexistence in Dominican communities.
