ADP calls for national mobilizations demanding teacher incentives
The Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP) has issued a formal call to the entire national teaching staff to participate in simultaneous rallies next Thursday, August 20. The main objective of this day of protest is to demand that the Ministry of Education (Minerd) fulfill the outstanding payments for salary incentives and retroactives from the Teacher Performance Evaluation (EDD).
Call details
In accordance with the circular issued by the union president, Eduardo Hidalgo, activities will begin starting at 9:00 in the morning. The mobilization strategy has been organized as follows:
- In the National District and Santo Domingo province, the 16 branches will meet at the historic Independence Park.
- In the rest of the country, the demonstrations will take place in front of the facilities of each corresponding educational district.
The union has emphasized that these protest actions do not imply a work stoppage or the interruption of academic or administrative activities, maintaining the focus exclusively on the scheduled peaceful gatherings.
Start of school context
This day of union pressure is taking place at a critical moment, just a few days before the official start of the 2026-2027 school year, scheduled for August 24. Currently, the Ministry of Education is in the final stage of preparing the educational system, carrying out training sessions for thousands of teachers throughout the national territory.
With these measures, the ADP seeks to reaffirm its commitment to defending the economic rights of teachers, hoping that the competent authorities will offer a favorable response to the claims regarding payments derived from the performance evaluation.
