Dominican Republic imposes its law against the Czech Republic in the U-17 World Cup
The Dominican Republic women’s volleyball team achieved an important victory this Friday after defeating the Czech Republic 3-1. The match, played on Chilean soil, was part of the classification round to determine positions 9 through 16 in the Girls’ U17 World Championship.
Despite a complicated start where the Dominican sextet conceded the first set with a score of 23-25, the team showed a remarkable capacity for recovery. Adjusting their game system, the Dominicans dominated the following three sets (25-22, 25-23, and 25-15) to seal the match in their favor.
Technical and offensive superiority
The Dominican triumph was based on greater effectiveness at the net and a solid defense. The final statistics reflected the Caribbean dominance, surpassing the Europeans with 49 attack points against 45, in addition to an advantage in the blocking facet, recording 9 compared to 7 for the Czech team.
Offensive leadership fell once again to Rayni Mondesí, who shone with an impressive 28-point performance. The attack was supported by Leandry Almonte, with 16 points, and Shanty Pérez, who added 12. On the defensive side, libero Jazlyn Peña was a key piece in neutralizing the rival team’s attacks.
Next steps in the tournament
With this result, the Dominican Republic is momentarily positioned in ninth place in the standings. The team is now preparing for their next challenge this Saturday, where they will face Argentina in the continuation of the reclassification phase.
