ADOPRON supports dismantling of clandestine alcohol factory in San Cristóbal
The Dominican Association of Rum Producers (ADOPRON) expressed its firm support for the authorities following the recent operation carried out in the municipality of Yaguate, San Cristóbal province. During this intervention, a network dedicated to the illegal production, bottling, and distribution of alcoholic beverages was dismantled, a significant blow against illicit trade in the country.
The deployment resulted in the seizure of more than 25 thousand units of illegal merchandise, with an estimated value of 5.9 million Dominican pesos. Among the confiscated items, 4,780 bottles of liquor ready for sale and more than 1,300 containers prepared for filling were counted.
Coordinated actions against illicit trade
Circe Almánzar, representative of ADOPRON, highlighted the efficiency of the Roundtable for the Fight against Illicit Trade in Alcoholic Beverages. The executive valued the joint work of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs (MICM), the Specialized Corps for Fuel and Merchandise Trade Control (CECCOM), and the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
This operation demonstrates that public-private coordination and the strengthening of intelligence efforts can produce concrete results in the fight against an illicit activity that not only harms companies operating formally and the treasury, but also represents a serious threat to the health and lives of consumers.

They demand to deepen the investigations
Beyond the seizure, the association has requested that the authorities deepen their investigations to dismantle the entire value chain of these illegal operations. ADOPRON emphasized the need to:
- Identify all actors involved, from financiers to distributors.
- Achieve convictions that serve as an example and have a deterrent effect.
- Trace the origin of the ethyl alcohol used as raw material.
The organization stressed that it is imperative to determine who supplies the inputs and through which channels the alcohol reaches the clandestine facilities. Finally, ADOPRON reiterated its commitment to continue collaborating with the State to safeguard public health, protect tax collection, and defend the integrity of the formal Dominican industry.
