Daniel Rivera presents health priorities for Santiago to Luis Abinader
The senator for the province of Santiago, Daniel Rivera, has put on the table a series of fundamental projects to strengthen the region’s healthcare system. Taking advantage of the workday that President Luis Abinader is carrying out from Santiago, the legislator seeks to manage key investments that will allow for improving hospital response capacity for the benefit of the entire northern zone.
Hospital modernization and new infrastructure
Among the main points of the agenda presented to the president, the evaluation of the José María Cabral y Báez, Arturo Grullón, and Presidente Estrella Ureña hospitals stands out. The objective is to identify the critical areas that require immediate interventions to optimize citizen care.
A central aspect of the proposal is the construction of a new maternity ward. As Rivera explained, the current infrastructure has reached the end of its useful life after decades of service, so it is imperative to have a modern, spacious center equipped with cutting-edge technology for high-risk births and specialized neonatal care.

Likewise, the senator underscored the urgency of enabling an adult burn unit in Santiago. This facility would allow for specialized treatment to be provided to patients in the region without the need for transfers to other provinces, centralizing a service of vital importance.
Santiago as a center for government decision-making
Daniel Rivera positively assessed the temporary relocation of the presidential office to Santiago, describing it as a strategic opportunity for the Government to learn firsthand about the needs of its 10 municipalities and 16 municipal districts. This direct work dynamic facilitates more efficient coordination between the water, energy, health, and construction cabinets.
President Abinader’s agenda, which spans several days in the province, includes strategic meetings with local authorities, legislators, business leaders, and representatives of various productive sectors. Through these actions, the Executive branch seeks to follow up on the projects and social requirements that drive the comprehensive development of the Cibao region.
