Large-scale fire affects area near the UASD
A voracious fire was recorded during the early hours of this Friday in the vicinity of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), resulting in the total destruction of a building and severely affecting various families residing in the university environment.
The incident took place specifically at the intersection of Correa y Cidrón Avenue and Amín Abel Hasbún Street. According to preliminary reports, the flames spread very rapidly throughout the structure, which created moments of tension and desperation among the local residents.
Displacement and distress of residents
Given the magnitude of the fire, dozens of people were forced to evacuate their homes immediately. Those affected remained outdoors in the surrounding streets for several hours, watching with concern as the flames consumed the building and fearing that the fire would spread to other adjacent homes.
So far, no fatalities have been reported, although the material damage to the affected infrastructure is total. The competent authorities remain on-site assessing the damage and determining the causes that led to this unfortunate event, which has shocked the university community and local residents.
