Reorganization in the military command: Jimmy Arias Grullón assumes the role of Commanding General of the Army
In a strategic move within the structure of the Armed Forces, President Luis Abinader has appointed Major General Jimmy Arias Grullón as the new Commanding General of the Dominican Republic Army. This appointment, made official through Decree 557-26, marks the beginning of a new stage in the leadership of the country’s ground forces.
Arias Grullón, who until his recent promotion led the Presidential Security Corps (CUSEP), takes over from Major General Jorge Iván Camino Pérez. The latter has been transferred to the Inspector General’s Office of the Armed Forces, where he will continue to contribute his experience to the institution.
A trajectory marked by safety and strategy
The new commanding general of the Army has an extensive resume that combines the protection of high-ranking State figures with solid technical training. Since August 2022, Arias Grullón has been at the head of CUSEP, consolidating a profile based on military intelligence, tactical training, and military education.
His time at CUSEP and his years of training at the Batalla de las Carreras Military Academy, where he graduated in 1999, have prepared him to lead one of the fundamental branches of national security.
Significant adjustments to the military structure
The restructuring driven by the Executive Branch is not limited to the general command. The Army leadership has undergone other key changes to strengthen institutional operability:
- Brigadier General José Manuel Durán Infante: designated as Deputy Commander General of the Army.
- Brigadier General Raúl Esteban Mora Hernández: appointed as Inspector General of the Army.
New direction in presidential security
The departure of Arias Grullón from CUSEP has required an immediate renewal of the president’s protection team. Brigadier General Guillermo Caro Cruz has been promoted to major general to assume the leadership of the Presidential Security Corps. Likewise, Lieutenant Colonel Enmanuel Almonte Polanco was promoted to the rank of colonel, occupying the deputy leadership of the same organization, while Brigadier General Rafael Raimundo Ramírez Tejeda was appointed commander of the Presidential Guard Regiment.
With these designations, the Government seeks to optimize the operational capabilities of military institutions, ensuring that command positions are held by officers with extensive experience in defense, sovereignty, and national security, which are fundamental pillars of the current management at Alofoke Deportes.
