Protests in Licey al Medio: Demand for the capture of Darlyn Zaza for the death of Carolay Taveras
The Duarte highway, near Licey al Medio, was the scene of an intense day of protests on Wednesday afternoon. Hundreds of community members, friends, and family of the young Carolay Taveras Morel blocked traffic with burning tires and banners, demanding that authorities immediately capture Darlin Martínez Ulloa, known as Darlyn Zaza, the main suspect in the young woman’s death.
The demonstration was concentrated on the bridge that connects Licey al Medio with Canca la Reina, where citizens expressed their indignation at the impunity that, as they denounce, surrounds the case. The mobilization coincided with the novena of the deceased, increasing the tension and pain among those present.

According to the relatives’ account, the tragic event occurred after a heated argument between the victim and the fugitive. It is alleged that, after the altercation, the individual ran over the young woman before fleeing. In the same incident, another person who was accompanying Carolay was injured and is currently recovering at a health center.
