Interior and Police reaches international standards of quality and transparency
The Ministry of Interior and Police (MIP) has achieved a significant advancement in its administrative structure after receiving the recertification of its Integrated Management System. This recognition, granted by the Dominican Institute for Quality (INDOCAL), certifies that the institution complies with the international standards ISO 9001 for Quality Management and ISO 37001:2025 for Anti-Bribery Management.
This achievement is the result of a rigorous audit process that confirms the entity’s commitment to operational efficiency and integrity in its services. The certification covers critical areas for the citizenry, highlighting three fundamental processes:
- The renewal of licenses for the carrying and possession of firearms, a process that represents 90% of direct interaction with users.
- The management of public purchases and contracting.
- Nationality certification processes.
An institutional transformation process
The Minister of Interior and Police, Faride Raful, pointed out that obtaining these certifications without presenting major non-conformities is a clear sign of the change in direction within the institution. As she detailed, at the beginning of her administration, the system had more than 150 pending findings that limited operability and transparency.
The progress we can show today demonstrates that institutions can be transformed when there is will, commitment, and teams willing to do things right.

For his part, Nelson Matos, Director General of INDOCAL, highlighted the importance of an entity linked to citizen security and social coexistence operating under high-efficiency standards. Matos congratulated the current administration for making the Ministry a benchmark of good practices for other State institutions.
With this milestone, the Ministry of Interior and Police reaffirms its goal of consolidating a modern public administration, capable of maintaining sustainable processes that guarantee trust and transparency before Dominican society.
