Dominican cinema shines in New York with the comedy Entiérrenlo Parao

The film industry of the Dominican Republic reaffirmed its international impact during the fifteenth edition of the Dominican Film Festival in New York (DFFNYC). On this occasion, the production titled Entiérrenlo Parao, under the direction of Ronni Castillo, became one of the great attractions of the lineup, achieving a sold-out presentation that was celebrated by the New York public.

The event featured the notable presence of actresses Yorlla Castillo and Hony Estrella, who interacted with attendees after the screening. The film was received with enthusiasm, consolidating the interest that local cinema sparks in the Dominican diaspora.

An absurd premise that guarantees laughs

The plot of Entiérrenlo Parao stands out for its originality, starting from a scenario as absurd as it is fascinating. The story centers on the passing of Don Adrián, an influential drug lord who leaves behind a rather peculiar last will: to be buried standing up. This wish transforms a solemn act into absolute chaos within his community.

What begins as a three-day wake ends up turning into a succession of entanglements, secrets, family conflicts, and unexpected situations, while everyone has something to say about the deceased’s last will.

A top-tier cast

The film, which opts for dark humor and an irreverent narrative about family dynamics, features a luxury cast that brings dynamism to every scene. The production and lead acting are in the hands of Yorlla Castillo, accompanied by figures with extensive careers such as Hony Estrella and Aquiles Correa.

The cast is completed with the participation of talents such as:

  • Amauris Perez
  • Pachy Mendez
  • Madison Diaz
  • Paula Disla

The script, written by Natalia Peralta and Miguel Yarull, manages to balance the absurd with a sharp look at the tensions and contradictions that arise within a family when faced with extraordinary situations. With this premiere in New York, Entiérrenlo Parao positions itself as a refreshing proposal that invites reflection through comedy.
