Isak misses match due to transfer rumors

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe revealed that Alexander Isak did not participate in the 4-0 pre-season defeat against Celtic due to speculation about his possible departure from the club. Isak, 25 years old, has aroused the interest of several teams this week, faced with this the coach decided not to field the player. Howe, who will guide Newcastle in the Champions League for the second time in three seasons, expressed confidence that Isak will continue in the team after the close of the transfer market on September 1st.

It was my decision. He traveled with us to Glasgow, but I decided to send him home due to the speculation. The last thing I wanted was for him to be sitting in the stands, that wasn’t fair to him. But I trust that he will remain a Newcastle player at the end of the market.

Howe also confirmed that he spoke with Isak about his future at the club, but highlighted the player’s professionalism in the face of rumors. “Yes, I have spoken to him, but it’s not unusual. I respect a player’s career and how short it is. Alex has been very good, he has trained very well and I understand there will be noise around him,” added Howe.
