Santo Domingo, D.R.
The Dominican Republic is preparing to be part of the Wings for Life World Run this Sunday, May 10th. This global event brings together thousands of participants simultaneously, all united by a noble cause: spinal cord injury research.
The race will start at 6:30 in the morning at the Dr. Rafael María Moscoso National Botanical Garden, synchronized with runners from all over the world. The initiative is promoted by Red Bull.
The 2023 edition set a record, bringing together more than 310 thousand participants from 191 nationalities in over 170 countries. 8.6 million euros were raised, which were entirely allocated to scientific research. This achievement highlights the race as a sporting and social event of great relevance.
The event maintains its unique format, without a predefined goal. A “Catcher Car” begins to chase the runners 30 minutes after the start, determining the end of each participant’s course. This dynamic allows the participation of professional athletes, amateurs, and people in wheelchairs, all competing under the same conditions.
Interested parties can participate in person or through the official application, connecting in real time with runners from all over the world.
The Wings for Life Foundation promotes a clear message: every step contributes to the search for a cure. 100% of the funds raised are invested in scientific projects focused on improving the quality of life of people with spinal cord injuries.
This weekend, the invitation is to run with a purpose, for a cause that goes beyond sport and seeks to transform lives.
