Caribbean Men’s Handball Cup: The Fight for a Spot in Santo Domingo 2026 Begins

Santo Domingo – This Monday kicks off the Caribbean Men’s Handball Cup, a crucial event that will serve as a qualifier for the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026. The competition will take place in the renovated Table Tennis Pavilion of the Parque del Este. The tournament, organized by the Dominican Handball Federation (Fedobalom), under the presidency of Miguel Rivera, will run until Saturday, May 2nd.

Inaugural Day Schedule

The opening day will kick off with three exciting matches:
  • 3:00 p.m.: Costa Rica vs. Cuba
  • 5:00 p.m.: Mexico vs. Puerto Rico
  • 7:00 p.m.: Dominican Republic vs. Guatemala
The official opening ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, April 28th at 6:30 p.m., after the matches between Cuba and Mexico, and Puerto Rico against Guatemala. That same day, the day will be completed with the match between Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic.

The participating countries will compete to secure their classification for the handball tournament of the regional event, which guarantees a high level of competition.

This tournament is an excellent opportunity for the Dominican selection to prepare for its participation in the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, which will be held from July 24 to August 8. In the Caribbean Cup, in addition to the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Cuba will participate, along with Costa Rica and Guatemala as guests.
