Fabian Borro, FIBA Americas President, Passes Away
The international basketball community is in mourning following the passing of Fabián Borro, president of FIBA Americas, at the age of 64. The news has generated deep consternation in the sports world.
Borro, an Argentinian leader, was a key figure in the development of basketball, not only in his country, but throughout the continent. He was unanimously elected to lead FIBA Americas in May 2023.
The news has deeply shocked the basketball family in Argentina, in the Americas and around the world.

Borro’s career began in 2000, when he assumed the presidency of the Obras Sanitarias club. Subsequently, he held management positions in the Basketball Federation of the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires, the Clubs Association and the Argentine Women’s League.
In 2019, FIBA named him a founding council member of the BCL Americas.
