Alexa Grasso: UFC Champion gives MMA clinic in DR, boosts local talent

Santo Domingo – UFC’s outstanding champion, Alexa Grasso, concluded her visit to the Dominican capital this Friday, after being invited by the Ministry of Sports and Recreation and the Ministry of Tourism. The Mexican athlete gave a mixed martial arts (MMA) clinic to a group of local athletes. The activity took place in the Fencing Pavilion of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center. The event was attended by the administrative vice minister of Miderec, Franklin de la Mota, and other representatives of sports federations.

An Encounter with the Champion

Alexa Grasso, who holds the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) flyweight title, is the only Mexican to achieve a championship in this prestigious MMA organization. During the clinic, she was accompanied by her manager, Jordan Valdinocci, a renowned kickboxing world champion. Grasso’s visit to the country was managed by lawyer Julio Cury, who, motivated by his admiration for the fighter, coordinated the invitation with the Ministers of Sports and Tourism.

Grasso expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to visit the Dominican Republic and share with the athletes, whom she urged to take advantage of the training. In addition, she praised the beauty of the country.

In representation of the Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, the Vice Minister Franklin de la Mota thanked Grasso and his team for their presence, as well as the sports authorities present. De la Mota highlighted the importance of strengthening disciplines such as MMA, emphasizing the growth and potential of Dominican athletes in this area. He also praised Julio Cury’s work in organizing the visit. For over an hour, Alexa Grasso and Jordan Valdinocci provided instructions to a group of young athletes, including members of the “Team Mordan” school. Among the attendees were the Vice Minister of Education, José Cancel, as well as Daniel Pérez and José Cruzeta.
