Venezuela promotes reconstruction plan after June earthquakes
The Government of Venezuela has launched a strategic call for applications aimed at civil engineering professionals and structural calculation experts. The main objective is to integrate these specialists into a national plan aimed at the repair and reinforcement of infrastructure that was damaged during the seismic movements recorded on June 24th.
The Minister of Transport, Francisco Garcés, reported that interested parties must complete an online registration process, followed by a training and certification phase. Once these requirements are met, the professionals will be assigned to the various rehabilitation projects that the State has planned for the affected areas.
Student inclusion and international partnerships
The initiative not only includes graduated professionals, but also extends an invitation to students in their final years of architecture and civil engineering. Young people will be able to participate as assistants, providing technical support in inspection tasks and in the execution of housing recovery works.
Internationally, the Venezuelan government recently formalized a contract with the global firm Miyamoto International. This agreement focuses on an initial cleanup phase, which includes the removal of three million metric tons of debris. Furthermore, the partnership seeks to strengthen construction standards and the implementation of advanced protocols for disaster prevention.

Emergency balance
The authorities continue to work hand in hand with the College of Engineers to assess the actual condition of the buildings. According to the official report issued on August 24th, two months after the disaster, the figures are alarming:
- At least 6,509 people lost their lives due to the earthquakes.
- 14,239 homes show moderate damage.
- 11,001 homes have recorded severe damage, requiring immediate intervention.
