China launches ambitious international program for journalists 2026
China has launched its second international program for communication professionals for the year 2026, an initiative that brings together more than a hundred journalists from 101 nations. The event, organized by the China Public Diplomacy Association with the firm support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, seeks to strengthen ties through training and cultural exchange.
The opening ceremony was held at Renmin University of China, located in Beijing, a venue that this year serves as host and residence for the communicators. The main objective is to offer a deep and direct insight into the economy, history, and the rapid social transformation that the Asian country is experiencing.
The role of communication in the Global South
During the inauguration, Hong Lei, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, emphasized the relevance of the China International Press Communication Center (CIPCC) as an essential bridge for mutual understanding. The official underscored the importance of highlighting the modernization experiences of the countries that make up the Global South.
Exchange between journalists is vital to overcome cultural barriers and foster a dialogue based on respect and reciprocal learning between peoples.

Connecting societies through journalism
For her part, Tong Xiaoling, vice president of the China Public Diplomacy Association, highlighted that the media has the responsibility to break down the geographical and cultural borders that often generate misconceptions about international reality. According to Xiaoling, China’s relationship with the world must be a constant process, based on mutual learning and a more direct understanding of local circumstances.
Innovation and academic training
Zhang Donggang, secretary of the Communist Party of China committee at Renmin University, extended a welcome to the participants, urging them to document the country’s development processes firsthand. Likewise, he highlighted the university’s focus on the technological vanguard:
- Research on the integration of artificial intelligence in journalism.
- Advanced studies in global communication.
- Projects aimed at strengthening international trust through academic dialogue.
A total immersion agenda
The CIPCC program is not limited to the classroom; journalists will carry out a series of tours through various cities and key institutions. This comprehensive agenda will allow communicators to explore China’s productive, social, and cultural sectors up close, consolidating a practical learning experience that transcends traditional professional training formats.
