This Sunday, starting at 9:00 a.m., the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of the National District will hold the hearing for the request of a coercive measure against Lenin Jhericop Núñez de León, the main defendant in the tragic event.
Accusation details
The Public Prosecutor’s Office has formally requested the imposition of pretrial detention against Núñez de León. This request is based on the clear flight risk posed by the defendant, arguing that he left the national territory immediately after the incident occurred.
According to the official investigation, the events date back to last July 1st at a ballpark in the Los Praditos sector. The tragedy originated from a commercial transaction agreed upon for the delivery of an iPhone 15 Pro Max, in which Joan Manuel Jiménez Medina is also implicated, identified by the authorities as the recipient of the money paid by the victim.
The file details that the defendant pursued the victim using a bat, delivering blunt blows to the back and head that caused them to fall to the pavement.
Fatal outcome and arrest
Following the attack, Emmanuel Contreras Medina remained in a coma under intensive care at the Ney Arias Lora Trauma Hospital, where he finally passed away on September 9th due to the severe injuries sustained.
The capture of Lenin Núñez de León was made effective this past September 11 at the Las Américas International Airport (AILA), at which time the authorities executed the arrest warrant that had been issued against him. In this way, the judicial process enters a critical phase to determine the precautionary measures that the defendant must comply with while investigations into his criminal responsibility are deepened.
