Alberto Núñez Feijóo demands an educational reform following the PISA report results
The president of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has put on the table the urgency of transforming the education system in Spain. This call comes after analyzing the worrying results of the PISA 2025 report, which has been labeled by the political group as a resounding failure for the current government administration.
During a meeting with the party’s Education advisors, the impact of the reforms promoted by the Government was evaluated. According to the analysis presented, the data show a setback that places Spain below the average standards established by the OECD, which Feijóo has described as a direct consequence of the current administration.
Towards a model of excellence and merit
For the PP, education should be treated as a matter of State. The main objective is to promote excellence at all academic levels, ensuring that the system is an engine for intellectual development and improves employability opportunities for young people. Under this premise, the party proposes moving away from ideological reforms and focusing on evidence-based measures.
It is necessary to recover the culture of evaluation and the values of effort and merit, reinforcing fundamental subjects such as reading, writing, and arithmetic, in addition to restoring authority to the teaching staff.

Key proposals for the educational system
- Promotion of critical thinking: Guaranteeing educational spaces free of ideologies that allow students to develop their ability to reason freely.
- Limitation of digital devices: The proposal to restrict the use of individual screens in classrooms, at least until the secondary school stage, has been reaffirmed. The intention is to avoid distractions and improve the capacity for attention and concentration at early ages.
- Review of current regulations: Party representatives agreed that the PISA results are clear proof of the deterioration caused by the current education law, which they consider to be a regulation that has limited the potential of the national system.
With these proposals, the party leadership seeks to establish a new direction in public education, prioritizing quality academic training over political decisions that, in their view, have compromised the future of new generations.
