Users report deficiencies in OMSA service in Ciudad Juan Bosch
Three weeks after the Metropolitan Bus Services Operator (OMSA) made official the integration of 25 renovated units to the Ciudad Juan Bosch corridor, passengers who use this public transport have raised their voices to point out that the promised improvements are not yet reflected in the daily reality of the service.
During the presentation of these buses, Onéximo González, executive vice president of the institution, highlighted that the deployment of this fleet had the fundamental purpose of optimizing the mobility of residents, achieving a significant reduction in waiting times at strategic stops in the sector.
Modernization promises under the microscope
The modernization plan announced by transport authorities included specific commitments that sought to raise the quality of service for users in this area of East Santo Domingo. Among the key points detailed by the OMSA were:
- An optimized bus frequency, estimated between 10 and 15 minutes.
- Units equipped with air conditioning systems in optimal condition.
- Access to free WiFi connection for passengers during their journeys.
However, the citizens’ experience over the last 20 days contradicts the expectations generated at the launch. The users consulted have stated that, despite the addition of the new vehicles, waiting times remain long and some of the announced technological and environmental amenities are not consistently operational.
The implementation of these 25 units was presented as a definitive solution to improve the efficiency of public transport in Ciudad Juan Bosch, but the operational reality shows that there is still a long way to go to reach the standards promised to the community.
For the moment, the residents of Ciudad Juan Bosch are waiting for OMSA to take the necessary corrective measures so that the transport service meets the quality and efficiency parameters that were communicated at the time of the launch of this corridor.
