Tragedy in Nariño: Landslide at gold mine leaves at least 13 dead

A regrettable tragedy shook the department of Nariño, in Colombia, this Thursday after a landslide occurred at an open-pit gold mine. The event, which took place in the border area with Ecuador, has left a preliminary toll of thirteen people dead and seven injured, according to official reports issued by regional authorities.

The incident took place specifically in the village of Puerto Rico, located within the municipality of Policarpa. The magnitude of the event has mobilized emergency teams to assist those affected and carry out the necessary rescue efforts at the scene of the incident.
