Justice in Montecristi: Those involved in the murder of Alexis Antonio Liberato are convicted

The judicial system of the Montecristi province has handed down a sentence against those responsible for the murder of Alexis Antonio Liberato Pimentel, a crime that shocked the community of San Fernando in November 2024. The Collegiate Court of the Judicial District of Montecristi imposed a 30-year prison sentence on Félix Junior Cabrera López and a 15-year sentence on Jennifer María Cruz Montolío after confirming their direct participation in the event.

Compelling evidence led to the sentence

During the judicial process, the Public Prosecutor’s Office presented a solid set of evidence that allowed for the clarification of the events that occurred on the night of November 16, 2024. The body of evidence, which included testimonies, forensic analyses, and audiovisual material, was decisive for judges Mercedes Reyes, Ariela de los Santos, and Ana V. Rodríguez to accept the indictment.

The investigation managed to reconstruct step-by-step the execution of the crime and the subsequent flight of those involved through the use of GPS technology, data extraction from electronic devices, and surveillance camera videos.

Details of the event

The file states that the convicted individuals approached the victim in the vicinity of an entertainment center located on Pedro Pablo Fernández street, in San Fernando de Montecristi. At that location, they proceeded to shoot at Liberato Pimentel, causing his immediate death.

Serving the sentence

After the reading of the sentence, the courts determined the correctional facilities where the defendants must serve their sentences:

• Félix Junior Cabrera López: Dajabón Correction and Rehabilitation Center (CCR).
• Jennifer María Cruz Montolío: Rafey Women’s Correction and Rehabilitation Center (CCR), in Santiago.

The case was prepared by prosecutor Yelissa Cabrera Caba, while the courtroom litigation was under the responsibility of prosecutors Francis Peña Sabés and Yohanny Altagracia Herrera, who succeeded in having the sanctions applied for violation of the Dominican Penal Code and the Law on Control and Regulation of Firearms.
