The long-awaited return: Betty la Fea returns to screens with its original cast
The iconic story of Beatriz Pinzón Solano remains relevant and is preparing for a new chapter. The sequel titled “Betty la Fea: Más Fea Que Nunca” marks a television milestone by reuniting the original cast of the Colombian production, something that had not happened since the premiere of the telenovela in 1999.
The long-awaited installment will be available on Prime Video starting next August 28th, once again featuring Ana María Orozco and Jorge Enrique Abello in their unforgettable roles as Betty and Armando Mendoza.
New challenges in the Ecomoda universe
The plot places Betty back in Bogotá, facing the ghosts of her past and the complex dynamics of Ecomoda. At this stage of her life, the protagonist finds herself facing a landscape of personal changes: she has decided to move into her own apartment and has begun a therapy process while trying to reorganize her feelings.
The reunion with Armando at a colleague’s farewell marks the beginning of a series of conflicts. Tension escalates when Ecomoda is embroiled in a plagiarism scandal and, to add more drama, an old French suitor reappears, putting Betty at an emotional crossroads between her past with Armando and an opportunity to start over.
The return of iconic characters such as the members of El Cuartel de las Feas, Marcela Valencia, Patricia Fernández, and the designer Hugo Lombardi promises to fill with nostalgia and excitement the followers who have kept this story alive for more than two decades.
A cultural phenomenon of global reach
Since its debut in 1999, “Yo Soy Betty, la Fea” established itself as an unprecedented phenomenon. The production holds the record for having been broadcast in more than 180 countries, translated into 15 languages, and adapted 28 times, including the successful American version “Ugly Betty”.
The success of this franchise remains unstoppable in the streaming era. The previous season, released in 2024, positioned itself as the Latin American title with the highest global audience in Prime Video history, reaffirming that the public’s interest in the experiences of Betty and her colleagues at Ecomoda remains intact.
