Research promoted to strengthen impact entrepreneurship in the Dominican Republic
The LATAM Impact Network and the Hueco Caribe Association have joined forces to launch “Impact Bridges,” an ambitious national research project designed to assess the current state of impact entrepreneurship in the Dominican Republic. This project seeks to identify existing gaps and growth opportunities for businesses that integrate economic profitability with concrete solutions to social and environmental issues.
Over a period of one year, the initiative will analyze the local context through surveys, interviews, and strategic consultations. The ultimate goal is to generate well-founded recommendations that foster the sustainability and development of this business ecosystem.
A collaborative and inclusive effort
The research is distinguished by integrating various key actors of Dominican society, ensuring a comprehensive vision of the sector. Among the participants are:
- Representatives from the public sector and private companies.
- Academic institutions and research centers.
- Civil society organizations and impact entrepreneurs.
- Incubators, accelerators, and entities dedicated to financing and innovation.
A fundamental pillar of this study is gender equity. The work team will pay special attention to the obstacles that women face in the business environment, seeking to enhance opportunities for female entrepreneurship in the country.
Policy Hackathons: Innovation from the regions
As part of the project execution, three meetings called “Policy Hackathons” will be held in the Southern Region, Northern Region, and Greater Santo Domingo/Eastern Region. These collaborative work sessions will allow participants to validate the research findings from their own territorial realities.
Policy Hackathons will function as co-creation spaces where detected challenges will be processed to transform local experiences into concrete proposals and strategic recommendations for the public and private sectors.
Regional connection and international support
The Dominican Republic joins a cooperation network that includes countries such as Argentina, Mexico, and Chile, allowing for an exchange of best practices at a regional level. While the LATAM Impact Network—which brings together more than 300 organizations in 25 nations—provides the methodological strategy, the Hueco Caribe Association is in charge of local coordination.
This alliance seeks to establish a clear roadmap that serves as a foundation for future public policies and business strategies, consolidating the Dominican Republic’s role as a benchmark in business development with social impact in the Caribbean.
