Fedom announces the 6th U6 National Championship dedicated to Welington Castillo

The Dominican Baseball Federation (Fedom) has launched its development tournaments for the 2026 season. On this occasion, the entity announced the celebration of the “6th National U6 Championship Frank Camilo Category,” an event that will pay a well-deserved tribute to the former Major League player and prominent member of the national coaching staff, Welington Castillo.

The competition, designed for the youngest baseball talents aged between 5 and 6 years old, is scheduled to begin this Sunday, August 23rd. The ceremony and the opening matches will take place at the facilities of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, with Play Number 3 “Héctor Tito Pereyra” serving as the main venue, with a call time scheduled for 9:00 in the morning.

Welington Castillo is an icon for the Dominican Republic; he is one of those people who serves as an example to follow for children, young people, and also for adults. On and off the field, he has proven to be a leader who has very high values to exhibit for everyone.
