“Mandrake” shot dead after confrontation with Police in Santiago
Agents of the Central Directorate of Investigation (DICRIM) killed Dilson Humberto Reynoso Cruz, known in the underworld as “Mandrake” or “El Mello,” during an exchange of gunfire recorded in the Pontezuela sector of Santiago de los Caballeros. The individual was actively sought by authorities due to his alleged participation in multiple violent crimes.
According to the official report from the National Police, the operation led to the location of Reynoso Cruz, who had an active arrest warrant for the death of a 15-year-old teenager, which occurred on August 18 in the Nueva York Chiquito sector, in Nibaje. Upon noticing the presence of the investigators, the suspect allegedly initiated an armed attack against the officers, who repelled the aggression, resulting in him being seriously wounded and subsequently dying while receiving medical attention.
Case details and seized evidence
The investigation indicates that the teenager lost his life after being struck by a bullet when an individual, traveling on a motorcycle, fired at a residence. Due to this event, the authorities held arrest warrant number 2026-AJ0073606 against the deceased.
- A Gato brand motorcycle, CG model, yellow color and without a license plate.
- A revolver with an illegible serial number, allegedly used to confront the officers.
- Evidence collected at the scene: a white cap, two casings, and a shell.
Reynoso Cruz had accumulated a criminal record of seven prior entries for various offenses, including illegal possession of weapons, bribery, and assaults with firearms.

In addition to the case in Santiago, “Mandrake” was wanted by the authorities of San Francisco de Macorís through arrest warrant 00238-2023. He was directly linked to the double homicide of Jonathan Martínez Ciriaco (alias “Yon”) and Dalfry Joel Recio (alias “Joel”), perpetrated during the year 2023.
As part of the intelligence efforts to dismantle their operations, various raids were carried out in the provinces of La Vega, Santiago, and Cotuí. Finally, Reynoso Cruz’s body was transferred to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) for the corresponding legal purposes dictated by law.
