Strategic alliance: Superintendency of Insurance and UNIBE promote the professionalization of the insurance sector
The Superintendency of Insurance (SIS) and the Ibero-American University (UNIBE) have formalized an inter-institutional collaboration agreement with the goal of raising the standards of education, training, and exchange of technical knowledge within the Dominican insurance market.
The agreement was signed by the Superintendent of Insurance, Julio César Valentín Jiminián, and the Administrative Vice-Rector of UNIBE, Grace Cochón. During the event, both parties highlighted that this partnership seeks to strengthen the ties between the regulatory body and the academy to enhance the integrity and efficiency of the national financial system.
A commitment to excellence and transparency
Grace Cochón highlighted that this alliance responds to UNIBE’s vision of connecting academia with the real needs of the public and private sectors. According to the vice-rector, this institutional support is vital for delving into critical issues such as the prevention of money laundering, thus contributing to the country’s economic stability.
We feel very satisfied to contribute to training on this subject, which contributes significantly to financial stability and transparency in the country’s economic sphere. We have been developing these programs for several years, but having the endorsement of the Superintendency of Insurance represents a very important backing for us.

For his part, Julio César Valentín Jiminián stressed that the development of human talent is the central axis for transforming the insurance ecosystem. Key areas of the agreement

- Exchange of experts: The SIS will provide instructors and specialists to conduct workshops, conferences, and academic modules.
- Institutional support: The university will grant scholarships to the Superintendency’s technical and administrative staff, in addition to providing physical spaces for training activities.
- Knowledge transfer: Both entities will share didactic materials and best practices to raise performance standards in the insurance sector.
