San Francisco will host the 2028 MLB All-Star Game
The city of San Francisco prepares to welcome the top figures of professional baseball once again. The San Francisco Giants organization has officially confirmed that Oracle Park will be the venue that hosts the Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star Game in the year 2028.
This event, considered the highlight of the mid-season, will mark the fourth occasion in history that the Bay Area hosts this prestigious encounter. Previously, the city hosted in 1961 and 1984, when the games were played at the old Candlestick Park, and more recently in 2007, the year Oracle Park debuted as host.
A week full of baseball
The designation is not limited solely to the All-Star game, but includes the entire schedule of activities that make up All-Star Week. Fans will be able to enjoy high-caliber events, such as:
- The exciting Home Run Derby.
- The Futures Game.
- The MLB Draft.
With its passionate fan base, a world-class stadium and a rich history in baseball, San Francisco will be an exceptional host for All-Star Week.

A legacy of unforgettable moments
The memory of the All-Star Game in San Francisco is linked to memorable milestones. In the 2007 edition, Japan’s Ichiro Suzuki made history by hitting the first inside-the-park home run in the event’s history, taking home the Most Valuable Player award. That game was also special for being Barry Bonds’ fourteenth and final appearance in this classic, in addition to featuring an emotional tribute to legend Willie Mays and the victory of Dominican Vladimir Guerrero Sr. in the Home Run Derby.
Larry Baer, President and CEO of the Giants, expressed the franchise’s enthusiasm for working on a memorable experience for sports fans, leveraging the modern infrastructure of Oracle Park and recent urban innovations in the Mission Rock sector.
It should be noted that, before the event in San Francisco, MLB will bring its spectacle to the historic Wrigley Field of the Chicago Cubs, who will be in charge of hosting the All-Star Game in the year 2027.
