Comprehensive National Plan for environmental protection promoted in the Dominican Republic
The citizen initiative RD por lo Alto, led by Hernani Aquino, has presented a formal proposal for the creation of a Comprehensive National Environmental Protection Plan. The main objective is to consolidate under a single State policy all the strategies necessary to safeguard natural resources and ensure the country’s water and ecological stability.
The project emphasizes the urgency of executing concrete actions focused on the preservation of the nation’s most vulnerable natural assets. Among the fundamental pillars of this proposal are:
- The strategic protection of rivers and watersheds.
- The sustained promotion of nationwide reforestation programs.
- The effective conservation of protected areas and the restoration of degraded ecosystems.
- The optimization of the solid waste management system.
- The strengthening of surveillance mechanisms to combat environmental crimes.
To ensure the success of this plan, the organization proposes the implementation of quantifiable national goals. Likewise, it seeks to establish a roadmap where responsibilities are shared and coordinated efficiently among government institutions, local governments, the private sector, and the active participation of the citizenry.
Protecting our rivers, forests, mountains, and coasts is protecting the life, production, and future of the Dominican Republic. Defending our natural resources is also defending the Homeland.
RD por lo Alto
With this proposal, RD por lo Alto seeks to elevate the debate on sustainability and environmental security, positioning the preservation of biodiversity as a priority issue of national interest for the long-term development of the Dominican Republic.
