Chicago: The Musical conquers the National Theater stage with a masterful production
The Eduardo Brito National Theater witnessed an unforgettable season premiere for “Chicago: The Musical.” After its first weekend on stage, the play received unanimous support from the Dominican public, establishing itself as one of the most ambitious and technically high-quality productions presented in the country to date.
The piece, which stands out for its impeccable artistic display, features general production by José Llano and direction by the experienced María Castillo. Together, they managed to assemble a team where live music, lighting, costume design, and precise choreography merge to bring the magic of Broadway to Santo Domingo.
A stellar cast that shines with its own light
The energy of the show is sustained by a main cast that demonstrated absolute mastery of the stage. Karla Fatule captivated the attendees in her role as Roxie Hart, while Robmariel Olea stood out for her imposing stage presence when playing Velma Kelly. For his part, Javier Grullón provided the touch of charisma necessary to bring the cunning lawyer Billy Flynn to life.
