Mourning in the media: Veteran art chronicler Claudio Concepción passes away
The Dominican communication sector is in mourning following the passing of the prominent journalist, television producer, and art critic, Claudio Concepción. The communicator lost his life due to pneumonia while receiving specialized medical care at the Metropolitan Hospital of Santiago (HOMS).
With an impeccable career spanning 46 years of professional practice, Concepción established himself as one of the most influential voices in the Cibao region. His passing leaves a significant void in the guild, especially among his colleagues at the Santiago branch of the Association of Art Chroniclers (Acroarte).
A life dedicated to television and art
For more than two decades, Claudio Concepción led the renowned variety show “A todo color… Claudio,” broadcast on Teleuniverso, channel 29. In this space, he co-hosted with journalist María Luisa Estévez, managing to connect with the audience through content focused on cultural promotion.
His professional legacy was marked by constant support for local talent and artists from the Northern region. Through his platforms, he provided an essential showcase for both established figures and new talents, as well as representatives of the Dominican diaspora, becoming a benchmark for regional artistic journalism.
His work of more than four decades not only defined him as a communication professional, but as a tireless promoter of the artistic and cultural values that distinguish Santiago and the entire national territory.
