Menudo celebrates five decades with a historic tour and an unforgettable reunion
The musical phenomenon that defined an entire generation, Menudo, is back. After five decades of leaving an indelible mark on Latin music, the iconic youth group has announced an anniversary tour that promises to thrill its most loyal fans, culminating in a grand show on December 12th at the Coca-Cola Music Hall in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The tour will bring nostalgia and rhythm to six key venues in the United States, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. The musical journey will begin on October 10 at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, then travel through cities such as Chicago, New York, Mexico City, and Hollywood, Florida, before closing with a flourish in the land that saw the group born.
A stellar cast of diverse generations
The confirmed lineup for this reunion brings together seven iconic figures who were part of Menudo between 1979 and 1991: René Farrait, Roy Rosselló, Raymond Acevedo, Sergio González, Ralphy Rodríguez, Rubén Gómez, and Robert Avellanet. For several of these artists, this tour represents a special milestone, as it is the first time they have shared the stage with colleagues from different eras of the group.
The return of Menudo is not just a musical event, it is the celebration of a phenomenon that opened the doors to Latin music internationally, leaving a legacy that remains alive in popular culture.
Physical preparation and surprises on stage
The show has been designed as an immersive journey that will combine music, classic choreography, and visual elements from different eras. Although the repertoire is being kept under wraps, the members confirmed that the greatest hits will be part of the show, including the highly anticipated moment of “Súbete a mi moto,” where they promise the presence of motorcycles on stage.
Achieving this level of execution has required a considerable physical effort. Robert Avellanet has shared that the intense rehearsals have brought with them the challenge of regaining the rhythm of yesteryear, while Ralphy Rodríguez detailed that adaptations have been made to the keys of the songs to adjust them to the current voices of the performers.
A legacy that endures
Since its creation in Puerto Rico in the late 70s, Menudo became a breeding ground for talent, hosting more than 40 young men, among whom figures like Ricky Martin and Draco Rosa stood out, who would later consolidate successful careers as soloists. Although the recording of new musical material has not been confirmed, this reunion reaffirms Menudo’s place as one of the most influential groups in the history of Spanish-language music.
